Beginning August 1, 2011 AshburnVeterinary Hospital will no longer accept needles that are not in an approved sharps container.
Sharps are needles and are considered to be medical waste. Veterinary hospitals in Virginia are held to the same standards as human hospitals. Virginia state law requires that all sharps generated or disposed of by a medical facility be disposed of in containers that meet industry standards. AVH requires all needles turned in by clients to be in an acceptable disposal container. Approved sharps containers are available for purchase within the hospital. Approved containers can also be purchased at most pharmacies.

An important reminder to all of our clients:
It is important to feed our animals with a diet specific to the needs of each species. Each different species has different energy, protein, and vitamin requirements in order to maintain a healthy balance. Never substitute a diet specific to humans or another species with the expectation that your pet's nutritional needs are being met. Please feel free to contact us for safe alternatives if you are unsure as to what types of diets you can offer.

I have been with Dr. Jones for 15 or more years. He has now cared for four of my dogs with the kindest most loving manner of any veterinarian in the area. I highly recommend him and his practice to anyone with a pet.
